Report summary
After reviewing the material provided to the NAKVIS experts team, examining the additional material that
the experts received before and during the virtual visit on May 23 and 24, 2022 at AMEU - ISH, after numerous
interviews during these two days and with the help of a virtual walk and a tour through the building of ISH,
we realized that the study program is carried out in accordance with the standards set out in point II.2.2 of the
Criteria for Accreditation and External Evaluation. The quality of the program’s implementation is
guaranteed and that the program is improved, updated and upgraded in relation to the previous accreditation.
The institution will inform NAKVIS about the latest changes in the study program (updated and unified curricula)
after the next session of the Senate.
Both modules were enriched with individual - mainly topical - content and updated resources. The basic feature
of the program, which is constantly implemented, is the in-depth interdisciplinarity of each module, the inclusion
of new subject contents and the abandonment of old ones, the inclusion of new and different research and
development approaches, which only appear on individual micro implementation of subjects within them. Here,
special emphasis is always placed on the intersection of both methodological and substantive aspects. In this
way, it is possible to empower students to solve scientific problems that arise in different parts of society. This
can be determined based on the students' achievements: participation in international conferences, writing
and publication of articles, monographs and (not least important) the preparation of high-quality dissertations
(doctoral theses). At the same time, we can point out positive reactions from the side of the employers of ISH
doctoral students.
The quality of the mentoring work is adequately provided - both at the formal level (field of research; appropriate
bibliography of the mentor; appropriate procedures for confirming dispositions and acceptance of dissertations)
as well as at the implementation level (guidance of students, communication, involvement in individual segments
of research processes).
The inclusion of external experts in the implementation of individual contents and segments of the study process
should also be highlighted, which provides an additional basis for the implementation of the basic red line of the
17
evaluated study program - justifying the reasonableness of connecting critical thought processes between
different field of humanities.
If necessary, some of individual management bodies (Akademski zbor, Senat) are involved in the process of
improvement. Their role is always and sufficiently precisely defined in the annual self-evaluation report. The
smaller number of students enables extremely good communication and cooperation between students and
teachers, that are experts and researchers at their own fields. External researchers are involved in the study
process, and it would make sense to intensify this further, because this enables a significant enrichment of the
study program.
In addition to their research within the framework of the doctoral topic, students participate in scientific
conferences (we highlight the large annual conference organized by AMEU) at home and around the world.
ISH publishes the scientific journal Monitor as part of its publishing house, which enables students and
doctorands to enter the research sphere by publishing articles.
Counseling and assistance to students is provided in several ways: organized, directly by e-mail and on the
AMEU - ISH website.
The student office keeps all records of student results, issues certificate, publishes information on the website,
directs students according to the lecture schedule, and provides technical assistance if necessary.
Doctoral students in the Humanities demonstrate good preparation and excellent knowledge during the study
process itself and after completing the doctorate. Some of them work successfully abroad at different
academic institutions.
A conversation with employers and alumni of the Humanities doctoral program revealed to a group of experts
in what way and to what extent the knowledge, abilities and skills acquired by the students on the program are
useful in practice and how the doctoral students of this study have expanded the reputation of the institution
AMEU - ISH.
The group of experts unanimously notes that the Humanities study program is implemented in accordance
with higher education legislation and that AMEU-ISH implements procedures that ensure the achievement of
quality standards and their continuous improvement. Therefore, we propose to NAKVIS the acceptance of
the report for the evaluation of the study program of the 3rd level — Humanities.
