Information on the agency’s work
By law, ARACIS is a legal, financially independent and autonomous public institution of national interest. ARACIS performs program evaluations, institutional external evaluations and sectoral evaluations of study domains. The Agency carries on the functions of the former Romanian National Council for Academic Assessment and Accreditation (NCAAA).

ARACIS assures the improvement of quality of the higher education system in Romania, being responsible for provisional authorisation, accreditation and quality assurance in higher education, both for study programs and institutions. |

ARACIS undertakes on a regular basis the following core activities: evaluation (on an ongoing basis and upon request), (review, audit – in Romanian the general term used is “evaluare” which is considered as a synonym to the first two terms within these brackets), and accreditation, at study program and institutional level. |
